Shooting for Neul: A Popular Café in Shin-Ōkubo, Tokyo
As an international filmmaker and photographer based in Tokyo, I recently had the chance to work with Neul, a popular Korean-style café in Shin-Ōkubo. Known for its cozy design and welcoming atmosphere, Neul has become a favorite spot for both locals and visitors.
The client approached me with a limited budget, but I focused on capturing the café’s authentic warmth and charm—the details, interiors, and hospitality that make Neul special. With efficient planning and creative direction, we produced visuals designed not only to showcase the space but also to drive engagement online.
The results were immediate. While Neul’s usual Instagram posts attracted just 1–2 comments, the reel we created together received over 30 comments and 1,000 likes, significantly boosting their visibility and connection with their audience.
This project reflects my approach as an international, bilingual filmmaker in Japan:
Delivering budget-conscious film and photography solutions without compromising quality.
Creating visuals that translate into real engagement and results.
Helping cafés, restaurants, and small businesses in Tokyo build a stronger presence online.
